Date: September 7, 2019
At 4:30 p.m. on September 7, when it was sunny after rain and the air was fresh, all the freshmen of Humanities College of 2019 gathered at the South Gate of Xipu campus on time for a garden tour. The freshmen are divided into four groups according to their classes. Led by the members of the campus embassy, they visited the campus landscape and learned about the history of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Commentator Tang Chao explained to the freshmen in the Locomotive Museum: "our Locomotive Museum is one of the landmark buildings in Xipu campus of Southeast Jiaotong University. There are four members: the first locomotive entering Southwest Jiaotong University - the construction of B-type No.8328 steam locomotive; Dongfeng Type 4 No.7019; Shaoshan Type 1 No.818 locomotive; and "new member" - Southwest Jiaotong University Maglev CFC-01. " Through close contact with this mottled and historic locomotive, the freshmen have a deeper understanding of the 123-year history of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Then, the freshmen went to the "Rejuvenating the Motherland When Intelligently Accomplished" relief wall commemorating the history of the school. Commentator Zhou Xuan introduced in detail the tortuous relocation history of Southwest Jiaotong University and the origin of the titles of "Oriental Cornell" and "Cradle of Railway Engineers". The bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat Sen and the group of statues of academicians also left a deep impression on the freshmen of the 2019 Humanities College. It can be seen that while maintaining the characteristics and advantages of science and engineering, Southwest Jiaotong University will display its long and bright history and profound cultural heritage.
Finally, everyone walked to the library and took a group photo after visiting the relief of the library.
